Project Overview
A unique opportunity to work on a building built over a historical stream. PH Design were able to justify the existing structure to support a new internal mezzanine floor. We inspected the existing “bridge beams” and designed strengthening works to support the additional loads.
The Challenge
The existing building is built over a small stream. We investigated archive drawings held at Building Control and pieced together what the engineer used 50 years ago. This allowed us to understand the existing structure and design strengthening works that are sympathetic to the existing materials. We are now working with the contractor to provide support for the methodology to install the new steelwork.
